December 7, 2010
Jill Burton called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Thirteen members answered roll call to the question:  What have you ask Santa for Christmas?

Minutes of the November meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  904.49

Old Business

Fifty dollars was paid to Roxanne.  A donation of $200 was made to Help House.  Canned goods were also gathered for donation.

Discussion continued concerning the quilt show location for 2011.  Jane talked to the Lyndon School about having the quilt show there.  Elsie Stout will follow up the discussion with administration and report back at the next Quilt Guild meeting.  Jane Anderson will contact the Carbondale Community Center and Vicki Lawrence will contact the Overbrook Methodist Church as possible locations for having the quilt show.

Emily Hooper would like to thank members for the nice card shower for her 90th birthday on November 12th.  She really enjoyed all the cards!

Program

Instead of a program this month, members brought finger foods and all enjoyed eating and fellowship.

Jill Burton called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Six members answered roll call to the question:  Did you vote?

Jane Williams made the motion to approve minutes of the October meeting, JoAnn Rodgers seconded the motion and minutes were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Not available

Old Business

Cathrine Kane won Best of Show and Best Pieced at the Overbrook Fair.

Discussion continued concerning the summer quilt show. 
There was discussion on having Ronnie Elmore do a trunk show and lecture on the history, design, and construction of log cabin quilts.  Mr. Elmore, a university professor and veterinarian, has been piecing log cabin quilt tops since 2005.  Ronnie’s wife, Carol, is a AQS certified appraiser and they have attended many quilt shows each year and they have lectured at the AQS show in Paducah and throughout the United States.  Ronnie Elmore’s brochure has a picture of the log cabin that is at the park in Lyndon and states:

“The Log Cabin Quilt pattern is one of the most enduring and versatile quilting patterns every created.  As we celebrate the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth and commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, re-examining the Log Cabin quilt and its place in history and its transformation today is a natural for your quilt guild.”

Jane Williams will see if the Lyndon High School gym will be available this summer for a quilt show and how much it will cost.



New Business:

December program:  Bring finger foods and socialize. 
The guild will purchase a gift certificate for Roxanne for providing a meeting place for the guild.
Jane Anderson made the motion that the guild donate $200 to Help House, it was seconded by Doris and passed.

At the December meeting, Guild members may bring food for donation for the Help House.

Jill Burton called the meeting to order.

Six members answered roll call.

There was discussion about having the quilt show this summer in Lyndon.  More information next month.

Program

The scheduled flea market lacked participation.

Jill Burton called the meeting to order.

Thirteen members answer the roll call question:  Name a Quilt Block.  Three guests were present.

Minutes were approved as sent out.

Treasurer’s Report:  Balance of $1,308.95

Old Business

The Overbrook Fair results not known yet.

Jill will pay $100 to the August presenter, Dee Gerardy.

New Business:

          Jill Burton and Vicki Lawrence sent blocks to the Kansas State fair.  The Quilt Block Contest for the 2010 Kansas State Fair was "Help the Chapman Fighting Irish Fight Back". The blocks will be made into a quilt, auctioned at the 2011 Fair, and half the proceeds will be given to the Chapman High School Family and Consumer Science Department.  *Note:  Jill Burton won the contest with this quilt block:




Program

Members shared the “Face Project” and pictures of their quilt rooms.


Also, Jane Anderson showed her Calendar Quilt, completed and jazzed up with really cute embellishments and Vicki Lawrence showed a quilt she made from her own pattern of embroidered barns, many of the barns were recognized by members.

Projects were presented for Show and Tell, and birthday treats were enjoyed in honor of the September birthdays:  Nanette Easterling, Kathy Tyson, and Jane Williams.

October meeting will be Tuesday, October 5, 2010 and will be a Flea market for members.

The Overbrook Fair is August 11, 2010.

Jill won Best of Show at the Shawnee County Fair.
Catherine Kane won Best of Show at Miami County Fair.

Jane Anderson’s “face project” needs to be done in September.  Bring to the meeting to show.








The program was given by Dee Gerardy – Orphan Quilts.

Show and Tell was enjoyed by all.

     The Osage County Fairs in Osage and Overbrook were discussed.

    Sympathy was expressed to Vicki Lawrence for the passing of her mother.

June 2010 Meeting

Roll Call was answered by 11 members.


Treasurer’s Report provided at a later date by Jill Gerardy: Balance - $1,436.78.

Old Business:

1. Motion was made by Vicki Lawrence and seconded by Jill Garardy that the guild buy two copies of the book Garden Nouveau Quilts and donate them to the Lyndon and Burlingame libraries in remembrance of Lee Neetleton and Della Denny. Vicky will sign the books and Jane Williams will take them to the library.


2. Discussion was held concerning the quilt show that was tentatively set for this October. Motion was made by Chris Shipp and seconded by Vicki Lawrence that the quilt show be postponed until next year to commemorate the Kansas Sesquicentennial - our 150th anniversary of statehood. Antique quilts will be included in the show.


New Business:

1. The AQS Raffle Quilt was discussed. Vicki Lawrence is working on getting the pattern.

2. The Santa Fe Trail Quilt Guild now has a Tax ID number. Jane Anderson obtained it for the guild because the bank requested we have one.

Program:
Jane Anderson presented a quilt she had made called Simply Squares. Hers was made with floral fabrics. Jane demonstrated how you start with fabric cut into rectangles, which is cut apart and sew back together, and you end up with squares on point. Jane’s quilt was beautiful.

Jane also showed her “Quilted Ladies” pin she had made and gave members a face so we could make our own quilted lady. See photo:

















Show and Tell: Monica Prim, Vicki Lawrence, and Jane Anderson showed their work. Jill also presented Block #6 of the block of the month and showed her quilt completed with block 6.


The next meeting will be July 6, 2010.

Old Business:

1. Quilt Show – tentative date set for October 16th , 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 17th , 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Set up evening of 15th. Jane Anderson and Chris Shipp to take care of advertising.

2. Tabled for future discussion: selling tickets at the Kansas City AQS in 2011.

New Business:

No new business.

The program was given by Jane Anderson – Making a Cathedral Window Quilt. Jane had samples of each stage of the process. Her sample was sewn with thirties fabric on white. Jane gave a website that explained how to make the Cathedral Window Quilt in detail:
