Cathrine Kane won Best of Show and Best Pieced at the Overbrook Fair.
Discussion continued concerning the summer quilt show.
There was discussion on having Ronnie Elmore do a trunk show and lecture on the history, design, and construction of log cabin quilts. Mr. Elmore, a university professor and veterinarian, has been piecing log cabin quilt tops since 2005. Ronnie’s wife, Carol, is a AQS certified appraiser and they have attended many quilt shows each year and they have lectured at the AQS show in Paducah and throughout the United States. Ronnie Elmore’s brochure has a picture of the log cabin that is at the park in Lyndon and states:
“The Log Cabin Quilt pattern is one of the most enduring and versatile quilting patterns every created. As we celebrate the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth and commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, re-examining the Log Cabin quilt and its place in history and its transformation today is a natural for your quilt guild.”
Jane Williams will see if the Lyndon High School gym will be available this summer for a quilt show and how much it will cost.
