September 2011 Minutes

Santa Fe Trail Quilt Guild
September 6, 2011
Jill Burton called the meeting to order.

Eleven members answer the roll call.
Minutes were approved as sent out.

Treasurer’s Report:  Last report was 904.49 – does not include dues.

Old Business: 

After discussion, it was decided the donation quilt would be displayed at the Santa Fe Trail Festival in Overbrook on September 17, and tickets would be sold for the drawing, which would be held at the October 4th meeting.  Jane Anderson will hang the quilt and take it down, Delores Rieck will sell tickets in the morning, and Kathy Tyson will sell tickets in the afternoon.

New Business:

Jane Anderson made the motion to dissolve the Santa Fe Trail Quilt Guild.  Jane Williams second the motion, and the motion passed by majority. 

Jane Anderson moved to donate the TV and stand to the Overbook Quilt Connection, second by Doris Cryderman, and passed by majority.

The quilt racks owned by the SFTQG – donate to other quilt guilds or Roxanne will check into advertising on the KQO website.

Jane Williams said she has a couple quilts to finish up and they will be donated to Help House.

The box of books, pictures, and patterns will be donated to the Overbrook Library.

After member discussion, it was decided that the money left in the treasury after bills are paid will be made in equal donations to Relay for Life, the Cabin at the Lyndon Park, Museum at Burlingame, Help House in Lyndon, and Eckan in Osage city.

There will be a meeting on October 4 to draw the winner for the donation quilt.  Please bring treats to eat, and Show and Tell!

April 5, 2011 Quilt Guild Minutes

Jill Burton called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Ten members were present.

Treasurer’s Report:  Not Available


Old Business

Continued discussion on disbanding the Guild.  If this were to happen, then a decision would be made as what to do with the quilt racks and TV.  It was decided to table the discussion until the September meeting.

New Business:

The Guild will pay $40 dues to renew as a non-profit organization. 
A motion was made by Jane Anderson to continue to provide prize money for local fairs and second by Jane Williams and it passed.


Program

There was no program.

Show and Tell was enjoyed by all.

May meeting will be Tuesday, May 3, 2011.  

March 1, 2011 Quilt Guild Minutes

March 1, 2011
Jill Burton called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Eight members were present.

There were no minutes from the February meeting as the meeting was cancelled because of weather.

Treasurer’s Report:  $904.49


Old Business: 

Dues for the new year, starting in March, are to be paid -$15.00

New Business:

Election of Officers: 

Kathy Tyson said she would be willing to be secretary again, and Jill Gerardy consented to continue as Treasurer, and Jill Burton agreed to remain as President.  Joann Rodgers moved to keep officers as they were, and Vicky second the motion and it passed.

Santa Fe Trail Festival

Overbrook’s 125th birthday will be celebrated September17, 2011 at the Overbrook fairgrounds .  Pat Martin asked for people to come quilt during the Festival.  Doris Uhl, Delores Rieck, and Jane Anderson volunteered.  

Members talked about selling tickets for the donation quilt at the Overbrook Days 125th celebration and have the drawing for the winning ticket during that time.

Quilt Show

Motion was made by Vickie Lawrence not to have the quilt show this year.  JoAnn Rodges second the motion and it passed.




Other Items Discussed:

Volunteers needed to sell tickets at the Overbrook Quilt Connection during the 13th Annual Kansas City Shop Hop march 31 – April 3.

March 19th is National Quilt Day.

Cruisin’ Kansas Quilt Bus Trip on April 16, 2011.  Shops on cruise route:  Charlotte’s Sew Natural, Newton; Needle in a Haystack, Severy; Overbrook Quilt Connection, Overbrook; Prairie Pieces Quilt Shop, Emporia; Quilting Bits and Pieces, Eudora

Jill Burton’s Little Vicky quilt was accepted in the Lancaster show. (March 16-19)

IMPORTANT!

Due to declining attendance we are discussing whether to discontinue the Santa Fe Trail Quilt Guild.  One possibility discussed was having the meeting during the day.
